We tested the mobile wi-fi device, connecting two mobile phones daily during our stay. Usage included sat-nav, browsers find and make bookings at restaurants and hotels online, messaging apps like watsapp, streaming music, and occasionally browsing social media.

Connection was great driving from Windhoek to Swakopmund; and download speeds very reasonable throughout. Saving a small fortune on roaming costs from our UK cellphone provider was a big bonus. Having a reliable connection on long drives with a young family was also very reassuring, and we will definitely consider this a ‘must-have’ for future trips.

Times have changed and I would never have imagined that in my future I would be able to see my vehicle on a digital map! Even surpassing that fact, would I never have thought I would be able to watch a Springbok vs All Black test match, live with family, in my wi-fi installed vehicle! What a reward after a long day toiling in the sun.

As a young farm boy I grew up without tv and the modern technology that exists today. It did not bother anyone. Vehicles were not common and 20km's were far to travel for a large family in one vehicle. At least lunch was packed for the road, which made the halfway stop very enjoyable.
